Rene Bastiaansen

Specialist in leadership programmes

René Bastiaansen (1962) was active for over 20 years at ABN AMRO after completing his university education and pursuing some professional side-tracks. He worked in various management roles both at the corporate and private end of the bank’s operations. During his last year with ABN, during the integration of ABN AMRO and Fortis, he was responsible for operations in Change, Culture and Leadership. In this role, he worked with a large range of (international) professional bodies.

Since 2013, René has worked independently and completed assignments in youth care, education, government and financial services. He is specialised in leadership in relation to culture and change, about which he argues that they cannot be thought of separately: “Leadership is the main catalyst for the desired culture to realize your strategy.”.

René is MBTI certified and successfully completed the Organizational & Relationship System Coaching (ORSC™) coaching course, which is accredited by the International Coach Federation. He is used to working at a high level in organizations. His approach is characterised by a strong planning and sense of direction, but attempts to convey feedback as a close friend. Humour and lucidity are indispensable elements of his style, and this allows him to capture, describe and address the ‘unfathomable’.
